“SYLVA BOREALIS”, Jérôme Langlois

Nature’s poetic and evocative force has always been Jérôme Langlois’ strongest source of musical inspiration. There could not be a better combination than his music and Jean-Louis Frund’s great nature films.

Experience on SYLVA BOREALIS a compilation of the instrumental soundtracks he composed for “Beyond my window”, “Prince of the arctic”, “Nature stories”, and “Sylva Borealis 1 and 2”, internationally recognized productions by Québec’s film-maker Jean-Louis Frund. For these productions, Jérôme Langlois composed for piano and clarinette, orchestrating and arranging on samplers . The string quartet “Quattuor Claudel” interprets the final cut of the CD, “L’Hymne à Sylva” in which we find Jérôme inspired by the “Habanera”, a spanish dance.

Co-founder of “Maneige”, an innovative instrumental group of the late 60’s and 70’s, Jérôme Langlois has produced the soundtracks for a wide variety of film and TV productions, always pursuing his personnal projects of concerts and recordings. His music is always in the service of emotion and instinct. This accounts for the personal style of his compositions, which are inspired as much by the classicism and impressionism of Ravel, Debussy or Brahms, as by the more recent music of Zappa, Emerson, or the Keith Jarrett.
